Browser War - Google Writing The Sequel

This is an era of speed and multi-tasking! So it is fact that every step we take, we are always on best of our capabilities. And we do these things to survive in the race. Similarly web has a great contribution in our fast movement. We search and find out what is in need. In our web search browser has the important role to fetch and display the search results. Now we have several browsers to go for multi-tasking. But the scenario was not like this before 1990s. There was dominance of Netscape Navigator. But Microsoft gave it a big blow with its Internet Explorer and began to dominate. This was just a symptom of emerging browser war which was going to be fueled with Mozilla Foundation coming with Firefox, Apple Inc with Safari, Opera Software with Opera in 2003 onwards.

But everything got almost upside down in the war of browsers with search engine giant Google coming with its Chrome in December 2008. Now all other browsers are having a run for their money! Just with an increasing share (around 7%) in the world wide access of browsers Chrome has given browser war a dimension altogether. It is a new sequel of the war written by Google. Let us see the giant’s play:

  • No license of use, compatible with different operating systems and best for its related network of services is the mantra of Google Chrome, getting lead in the browser war. While Safari, Firefox and Opera are not fully compatible with MAC, Linux and windows, Google Chrome is completely compatible.
  • Simplicity, speed, easy installation, light weight and better user interface is giving Chrome high position in the browser war. It is now fact that the file size of Chrome is small, its installation is easy, it is too much fast than other browsers. That is why even Internet Explorer is coming with 8.0 and higher version to deal the matter similarly!
  • The use of extensions and add-ons began with Firefox and their use made Firefox hugely popular in the browser war situation. But Chrome is not something that succumbs to the competition! It has come not only with its own created add-ons and extensions but also plenty of third-party ones.
  • The point that was never given importance before and by the browsers involved in the browser war is the security level. Yes Firefox has several add-ons but Google gave its Chrome the built-in Sandbox. Now users feel very much safe in browsing as they know malicious and virus spreading sites will be restricted automatically by Chrome and alert will be given.
  • Last but interesting point that has increased the popularity of Google chrome is Google’s huge advertisement campaign to popularize its browser. No other browsers involved in the browser war to get higher popularity had even thought of it. It is new and unique from Google.

Hope you have understood how interesting the browser war has become with the Google chrome coming into the battle field! There is plenty to come both from the Google and other browser makers. We are going to see the thing ever anew. Ultimately as users we are gainers. We are getting more advanced search and find options through up gradations of browsers.

At Infowaylive, the best PHP developer India, we are trying to make all our websites (own and those we build for the clients) compatible with maximum number of popular browsers. So this is the only war that people are enjoying with great pleasure and even we can say encouraging! Three cheers for browser war!
